Welcome to Livs Ocean!

Hey! I'm Olivia but you can call me Liv! Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I explore my passion for the sea and connect with people who are as ocean obsessed as me. Ooh that rhymed! So who am I? In short I am a girl with a love for the ocean; a thalassophile. If you haven't come across that term before it simply refers to a person who loves the ocean. I have been a thalassophile for as long as I can remember, although I didn't know that there was a name for it back then, and one of my earliest memories is of my dad and I, hand in hand jumping over wave after wave only to be knocked on our butts time and time again. Despite growing up in land-locked London, with the closest beach a two-hour car journey away, I have always felt a deep, inexplicable connection to the ocean. An unbreakable bond that has pulled me back to the foamy surf at every possible opportunity. As I've grown up, my interests and preferences have changed but the one thing that has remained constant throughout it all, has been my affinity for the ocean. So when it came down to choosing what course I wanted to do at university and ultimately what I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life, the water in my heart tugged at me to follow the sea and to see where it lead me. And here I am! Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marine Science at a Hogwarts-esque university on the beautiful, rustic west coast of Ireland. A young Liv's dream come true! And I'm going to take you along for the ride! Expect a little bit of everything; coastal adventures, diving tips and tricks, sci-ency stuff and some marine facts sprinkled over the top for good measure. Did you know that the Peacock Mantis Shrimp can vaporize water? How cool is that?!
